J day wasnt as good as last year, but still was good.
There were kids as young as 11 getting stoned there, which i didnt think was great, and lots of people took there children,(3-7) which i dont personally agree with.
But we all got really baked and showed the man we arent gonna lie down and take it _________________ All your base are belong to us |

| Lol I didn't notice that. All I noticed were the range of stereotypes who like weed, and a 'comedian' wrestling with a white tube thing and plenty of hippies with instruments lol. Yeah I was a little put off by the young teenagers but I guess it can't be helped... everyone seemed happy enough. |

Sounds like you guys got a lot of people there. In Chch we had about 200. The weather was amazing, turned out sunny and warm, best JDay weather for yonks. Yes there were a lot of younger people, many a bit under 18, but none very young. Everyone threw caution out the window, not a single person came over to me to give their name in case of arrest.
I don't think anyone was arrested but we had the fuzz there on and off all day, and we're all writing down what we remember to try sorting it out correctly. In Cathedral Square some people didn't wait for the 'stroll together' down to the park at 1pm and there was a search of small group who left early. I think the cops asked them if they'd been smoking cannabis and they admitted it, so got turned over (nothing in pockets) and details taken. I got told to bog off or I'd be arrested for obstruction, so my friend took photos instead, and they threatened him and took his details . . . intimidation.
I spent a lot of time going around all the groups at the park reminding them that the police rely on their ignorance of their rights, and the likelihood that they will be honest. And that they can say 'no I have not been smoking cannabis' and not feel guilty

I was up by the fountain, and i couldn't even see that many people smoking, only big groups of teenies. That was about 1 or 2, my mind is kind of a blank after that _________________ Blazed in the southern sky |

It was quite quiet up at the fountain. Most busy down near the stands and the outdoor cooker . It was a nice relaxing afternoon. A big thanks to the guys that made it happen, and a big cheers to the guys giving the spots. |

Overall we had a good time, great to catch up with some old friends and people watch all day. Although I didn't move around too much I didn't see any uniformed cops for the first time since I started going, and just really enjoyed soaking in the good happy vibes that spread across the park. Great to see such a good turn out! And it's prompted me to start returning to the 420 smoke ups, so hopefully other people will feel the same. But as usual, still have to wonder how many people just turned up for a sesh with no actual care for the movement...
Only thing we saw that put a dampener on things was the attempts to start fights... sitting by the bob marley car in the afternoon and witnessing tension building was a bit nerve-wracking, and sighs of relief were heaved when it amounted to nothing. Come on guys! Look at how many years of mis-information we've got to unravel and set straight, and you're ruining the good name we try to gain by being dickheads at the most important day for mary-jane of the year! The one day of the year when pot-smokers should be on their best behaviour and proving that being associated with pot doesn't mean you're being a stupid naughty person. Gah, made me really cross to see that.
Now i'm just waiting for photos and reviews, looking forward to a slideshow of red eyes and goofy grins! |

| Yeah I think a large part of the crowd just turned up for the chance of scoring, or to be seen, but that's humanity for you. |

| Some of our punters looked a bit shattered ALCP weren't allowing the joint throw this year, they were all told at Cathedral Square. I think all showed up at Latimer Square for the music though, so I assume they had their own. |

I think I heard that guy... I much prefered it to the reggae played later on... But yeah they should've thrown in some other styles that we like to listen to. Maybe even some 'stoner rock' |

sorry yes.
He was doing a bit of a hatchet job on J Day but Chris put him right..
Danny made comments like pro cannabis callers could hardly string two words together so actually ended up cutting Chris off because he was making sound sensible comment..
But then Danny finished the topic y saying .. in his words . "why don't you outspoken cannabis smokers just grow and smoke without making an issue of " he could have added like everyone else does...and I think he nearly did...

Danny Watson is a chump. He obviously didn't want anyone to make sensible points about marijuana prohibition. If I had called up saying "yeah bro we jus want to smoke da weed bro!" I'm sure he would have kept me on all day.
Anyways... the DJ playing around 2:30 was Double-O Afro. I think he has a show on Base FM (107.3 in Akld or check out www.basefm.co.nz _________________ "when injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty!" |
