Hi, there are posters at The Hempstore to be picked up
or email info AT norml.org.nz for a jpg to print out or email to friends
Re "observing from the outskirts" - I think there is safety in numbers and it's better to form a tight group. Get to know people and make some friends
From a PR/media perception though, it's best to keep it R18.
They love to bash us. Think about breaking stereotypes. Try dressing up.
Bring something to sit on - the ground may be wet.
Bring a banner, sign, wear your pot t shirt, bring a musical instrument, a smile, and a positive attitude
Bring a donation to help us cover costs (this is REALLY important!)
And please pick up your rubbish - use the bins the council make us hire!
Thanks... enjoy your day... and spot you there _________________ "when injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty!" |

You nearly got a fair go Chris with Danny today... he is closed minded was actually surprised he was not even more rabid , he is softening his stance..
Maybe he did read THe Emperor Wears No Clothes ...
It would be good not to give them an R18 focus to use against us .. as they seem hell bent on doing ... I think we will find the media hanging round trying to expose R18 use or encouragement to use against the movement ...
I would encourage any <18 yr olds to think of the future not the moment ,
respect Normls R18 policy ...don't give the media the ammunition they will be trying to dig up..

Also in for J Day...I tend to agree about the under 18 rule. Out of all the pot smokers I know, the ones who started before they were 18 tend to be the ones that aren't what they used to be. I was 18 (and a half ) when I tried it my first time, and so were most of my friends and I think it was a great idea as we were also mature enough so that most of us didn't over do it.
As for the brain damage; we all get it smoking marijuana, but for 18+'s it's proven to be reversable, usually within a few days we should be back to normal but for under 18's the damaged state tends to become the normal which is not good. I mean there are definately people out there who's brains are fully developed before they turn 18 and they should be fine but is it really worth the risk? It wasn't for me.
Anyway, peace out and I'll cya all on Saturday |

| I started at 16 but I held it so highly that I only did it on occasions. It seemed like something I would have to sit down and consider. I was even nervous before taking a hit at times lol. It wasn't till I was approaching 18 that smoking became as negligible as sipping a coffee. I found it was a real eye-opener for me, and it kind of boosted my confidence and stimulated my brain to think more outside the square at the time when I first tried it. I think it really gave me a boost. But I wouldn't start recommending it to others who are not 18 yet, because I cannot assure the same results... I think it is pretty good that NORML are sticking to their guns promoting a R18 policy. |

Just a had question what I meant re Danny.
Chris was on radio talk back defending J day after some over the top listener calls , mainly regards school kids talking about it .. some mothers were talking about locking up their daughters .
It did seem Danny did not want to hear Chris hold that NORML had an R18 policy .
But knock me over with a feather when Danny finished by inferring pot was actually ok and just go grow and use without making an issue of it .. I am sure a transcript exists.
Chris did well , but I do fear when the radio waves open up to the cannabis issues it brings all the rabid anties out of the woodwork ... and as Danny said those who sound like the stories about pot are true who can't string a sentence together ..
But how do we encourage credible experts to participate to support Chris ???

I will be in Wellington this w/end and hope to get to the jday celebration/protest. I noticed on another Norml thread that Paula (CHCH J day) asked that people come up to her and give their name so she can bail them out if need be, if the piggies try to pick off any stragglers. Is this the case for Wellington also? is there someone I could bowl on up to and say Hi.... in case any piggies think "whats that nice respectable looking lady doing here smoking joints? think we will hassle her" (I can't help a bit of 'healthy' paranoia) |

The type of people who support marijuana will be having a good time or just relaxing with good music, cooking, eating... Just enjoying life.
The type of people who are anti marijuana will be scrutinizing everything that doesn't suit their empty life, and getting all stressed out ringing up talk-back complaining about anything which remotely concerns them. |

I was just at the dunedin one. Pity it was held on the same day as the float day and graduation day. Good idea but poorly executed with all the under 18's there and the organiser taking a shot at the university guys on the floats with great arguments like 'you know you think you're getting a great education at university, well I don't need your squares and numbers.. I get a better education from pot.'
Great PR there. |

I really didn't expect such a turn out. Was nice to see how relaxed everyone was, and it was also very nice to sit down and smoke with so many people around (also smoking). Although I wish there weren't so many 15 year old gangsters :\
Lol I also saw the bum who threatened to kill me once but he seemed happy smoking the roach he found. |
