The Green Party has released 12 specific criteria it will use to determine which party it will go into a coalition with if it is over the 5% threshold.
They do not list Cannabis Law Reform in their 12 items.
I gave them my party vote for the past three elections.Never again.
It is a tick for ALCP for me.
Not to sure about the Greens myself..
Listened to Janet F this morning on Breakfast TV going on about why they felt justified in nanny state controlling how much water volume a shower head should set to..
I have spent the morning trying to make mine meet the same volume hers is set to as she told us..No matter what I tried it was just not possible .
The best results I can get was about .i5 of a litre per second , nothing like the 6 litres per second hers runs at .. to do that I would have to increase all my pipe sizes and put in a high volume pump, its just not worth the cost and effort .
Na the Greens seem to have some crazy ideas ..
They will get plus 5% , not from the CLR community but protest labour votes .. a defacto achievement ..
Shame they sold out the CLR movement , but by the looks of it even with the protest vote and even extra numbers they will be a non event post election..
Be nice to think the ALCP might pick up those pissed off with the Greens and labour and give the Nats something to think about..
The biggest stumbling block will be Peter Dunne , he could well be able to negotiate another anti cannabis position with the Nats as part of his coalition agreement..Once again the tail will wag the dog..
The Greens have blown any chance of being part of CLR , they got conned and now are are going to be a non event..Bit of a shame really..

I don't know about that, we'll just have to wait and see. I wouldn't like to see them get under 10% otherwise they'll have little or no leverage again.

Sadly thats 6 litres a minute.
Bugger, wish she had corrected her mistake , I spent all day yesterday trying to comply.
(Janette , on beakfast Telly Thurs morn , assured us she had adujusted her shower to 6 litres a second.)
She was on Closeup too Tony and she had also made the same mistake of saying 6 liters a minute. I thought, 'Shit, that's alot of water, if thats water conservation I need to get a better shower head' lol
I've voted Green for the last two elections aswell.
I must say that I have been somewhat surprised that the Greens would start with the whole 'Nanny state' policies. While I don't exactly disagree with many of the 'themes', I do not for one moment like the 'compulsory' nature of their policies. And that smacking thing was always just, 'taking the piss'.
It is a 'real shame' the Greens kind of, in my view...'went the other way.' It's as though the core values of the party have somehow come unstuck. What happened?!!!?
Water is one thing; and so too whales, dolphins, tree's, home insulation and energy conservation - but what about all the 'hundreds of thousands' of 'people' who have no representatives regards cannabis law reform in parliament? I just kind of thought that 'people' would be valued a little higher is all. Tens of thousands of other wise decent human beings who are 'fucked over' by the USA war on drugs in NZ every year!
Geez now I'm really confused ..... is it 'per second' or 'per minute' ???
She did say her personal shower was set for 6 ltrs per second , but it should actually 6 per min.. Think Neuron might of had a Janette moment.
Instead of rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic re water and power , to have introduced a decent subsidy on Solar water heaters and rain water retention tanks might at least have been worthy .. But instead they spent it on trying to educate people to use less .
It's hard to say how I will vote in the next election - CLR is important to me, but its not the only thing that I care about. If cannabis was legal I would vote for the greens but since its not and they are not really doing anything about it perhaps a protest vote away from the greens to ALCP is in order. That way either something will happen when ALCP get enough of the vote to do something, or the greens will take CLR back up to get the protest vote back.
The Greens must have made a conscious choice to remove cannabis from their platform this year . One of two reasons, as I see it.
Could be they have figured , to been see as a pro pot party is about as acceptable as being seen as a Po Pot type party, to promote would only cost them votes, so they will " Not talk about pot".. But after the election , they can reintroduce it .
Or the whole cannabis aspect is no longer on their agenda , they have other priorities .
I get confused when I see within the new wave of Green support coming from some of my very left wing / socialist friends , the old PYM , SUP support now seem to be behind them .
The way Nandor was dealt to , and the lack of a firm position statement of late re CLR sure points to cannabis having had a shift of status over the last 4 yrs .
But to me its all academic , as the Greens are a shoe in this election , not on merit or policy but because they have positioned themselves as an alternative protest vote and will pick up a considerable portion of the disenfranchised labour vote.
Labour have stuffed it up so much , people will be looking for another place to park thier vote.
I had thought we might have seen the Greens come out strong , shouting from the roof tops , just how instrumental they had been in getting the breakthrough Sativex approvals past first post..But niche, nothing , no a whisper..
If the Nat steam roller loses traction , we could well see a Green dominated coalition with labour , along with MP, Dunne and Anderton . who knows even NZF , Winston could make a come back.. So we will have the same old same old .
A stand alone Green /labour might be different but thats not likely.
There is not a snowballs show in hell of a more pro CLR Cabinet , no matter what the outcome.
An ALCP vote, if it could get the numbers , might have them reconsider but I am under no illusion that enough pro pot voters will be motivated enough to give ALCP the nod.
Rather than have people reduce their useage in a country where rain isn't usually a problem, why not allow home owners to install water tanks.
All these 'Green' policies that costs us more and more every year, it's the wrong approach to get the people behind you, you would have more success providing incentives in the form of money or credits for recycling, I think this system is in use in Germany, 4 bins - food, plastic, metal and biowaste, put it out on the right day and get a reward, put a wrong one out you get a small penalty fee, and I hear it works very well.
We are expected to switch over to compact flouro lighting to save power yet they charge us more for it every year to use it, we are phasing out wood and coal burning fires but it appears ok to send it to coal fired power stations in China (anyone manage to see a day at the olympics that was totally haze free?) but here they are going to charge us if we produce carbon!
87% of the population polled disagreed with the anti smacking bill and 83% of a TV3 poll supported medical cannabis, and the Greens managed to get the anti smacking bill though....
The Greens might have some good ideas, ideas that need to start happening in this world, but it has to be an international thing happening at the same time, we are a small nation trying to compete with powers far greater than ours, and these ongoing costs are crippling us, we are going backwards, not forwards. _________________ A pain free day the marijuana way.
