Student uses phone to film pot-users
5:00AM Saturday July 19, 2008
By Martha McKenzie-Minifie

An Auckland teenager used a mobile phone to record other students from the school apparently smoking cannabis - then turned the recording over to school authorities.

The unusual situation left the Auckland high school's board of trustees scratching their heads over whether they could use the images when investigating. Ron Mulligan, of the NZ School Trustees Association, said at the association's conference in Christchurch yesterday it was one of the first cases of its type. "The school had never come across it before, and we never had."

Mr Mulligan said the association advised the school it could use the images in its disciplinary proceedings about a month ago. He said a school representative told him they intended to take still images from the footage to reduce the chance of indicating where the camera operator was standing - and, in turn, identifying who filmed the scene.

What a load of crap, photographic images are no evidence of what substance is being smoked, it may well of been tobacco in a roll your own
that looked like a joint.
Obviously the authorities want to jump to a conclusion that suits their agenda without any substantial evidence.
What a bunch of presumptuous dorks, only too happy to climb aboard a
popular bandwagon and destroy the future of some students with evidence that would never stand up in a court of law.
Obviously Ron Mulligan has no sense of what is real evidence and is happy to see the future of students ruined by allegations that would not be substantiated in a court of law based on the information available.
Ron Mulligan is an arsehole without a conscience, but with a career motive.

The rat is Ron Mulligan, a person who would destroy the future of a student based on evidence that would not be accepted in a court of law.
How low can you go to seek the approval from educational administrators in the hope of advancing your career.
I would suggest that Ron Mulligan is a person without any integrity.
