Vapor Daddy Broken Posted: Mon Sep 22, 2008 10:13 am
Hi,
My Vapor Daddy that i got from Cosmic Corner at the start of the year has perished. When turned on everything lights on but the glass coated heated filiment 'thing' isn't heating up. I probably smoked my reciept so might have trouble getting the warranty fix on it if there is one. Has anyone had similiar problems or knows how much it would cost to fix if taken into cosmic corner or somewhere else?

Mine lasted 7 months. Was the best damn 7 months of MJ delivery in 20 years of smoking too. The heating elemnt died like your ... the LEDs still light up but no heat
The warrenty is for 12 months but you need to send the unit back to Canada and pay for the shipping. I couln't see the point ... and already knew of there poor reliability record ... damn impulse buy
I replaced it with a vaporite which I am less than happy with. It may have a digital readout but it doesn't hold a constant heat very well ... is forever heating up and cooling down making for inconsistant hits and the ocassional burn .
I don't understand why the likes of the Hempstore or cosmic corner ... or even SOG don't stock quality NON chinese made vaps like the Da Buddha and Silver Surfer.
Cosmic Corner do sell the Vaporbrothers which should last longer than the daddy but is $300 ... my Purple-days vap cost me $195 imported from the USA. I could get a Da Buddha to the door for under $300 and its a way better vap than anything sold in NZ ... unless you wanna blow bags and then a standard Volcano is gonna set you back $1100 from a NZ store
I don't get why we can't get quality vaps in the NZ headstores or from a NZ online store ... becuase importing vaps can be a bit of a crap shot with customs able to intercept them ... if they think its a bong they will stop it getting too you. The vaporite range carried by the hempstore are cheap ass chinese vaporizers with questionable build quality and internals.

Sorry dude, I don't agree. Vaporite are actually a really good quality. They have a quality ceramic element like the Vapor Brother, and unlike the Vapor Daddy. They have a one year guarantee, compared to 3 months for the Vapor Daddy (although actually, Cosmic are really good about honouring the guarantee for longer than that - RazzedFace you should go in and ask).
We have imported more than 800 over the past year and had less than 1% come back. That's a great rate for any electronic appliance.
VaporCloud, if yours is going up and down like that, it sounds like fault. Bring it back and we'll check it out. Unless it is the Hyper metal model, which is intended to go up and down and so not burn out.
Also, I think you have answered your own question:

It is even more difficult for a business to import a shipment of hundreds than it is for you to import one at a time.
In terms of going for more expensive US-made models, it all comes down to price. Plus we have found them to be not actually a better quality.
The Vaporite models are identical to other brands like Noble Vapor and Digi-Vapor, and have no manufacturer based warranty (at least in the US). Although they may have a ceramic element like the Vapor Bros, I think Vapor Bros would disagree with the "quality" part. "Other so-called “ceramic” elements on the market do not meet our standards for safety, and we recommend you give any “ceramic” heating element a critical eye. We have found other vaporizer brands using metal components in their “ceramic” heating elements, along with off-the-shelf parts intended for industry."

Whether the Vaporite element is equal to the Vapor Bros or not, all ceramic elements are not created equal, and it's clear that a lot of the made in China box vapes that sell on eBay for half the price of a Vapor Bros do not use quality elements. Quite a few Vaporite models for sale on eBay, and none have a warranty. I've seen a lot of posters report failures of these Chinese vapes after a few months or even weeks. We also hear a lot of reports of a very narrow vapor range. We see pretty much every vape in the US, and the best ones also come from Canada, France, and Germany. The consensus is that there's a big difference in reliability between the better name brands and the generic boxes with different names slapped on them.

Hi Chris, I know you guys are solid re-the warranty, this was my reason for purchasing the vaporite. I also know you guys are helping make vaps more assessable due to a decent price. $300 plus is hard to justify for many users and being able to get one for under 200 is great! Having to pay over a $1000 for a Volcano is fucked up and I reckon I can get bigger and taster hits out of my vaporite than from a bag anyway
The Vaporite is streets ahead of vaps of old ... especially the BC which seemed to be the only vaporiser available for such a long time in NZ until the new generation of convection vaps started to filter in.

So if you have imported 800 why choose vaporite? If you managed to get 800 into the country why couldn't that have been 800 Da Buddhas? Sure a DBV would need to be sold for close to 300 in NZ to make a decent margin and this cuts out the 'good value option but it does seem like a apity because the 7th floor products are just so superior.

But you still managed to get in 800 in one year
The vaporiser market is very unregulated and when you are inhaling through something (on a daily basis) something that is heating up to a high heat, lead free solder and food grade glues etc should be considered. I'd bet this is not the case with a chinese made vaporiser.
I still take the attitude that vapping in any form has gotta be better than smoking/combusting and I get big tasty hits from the vaporite. I just wish there were other options available locally than the chinese made vaps. I'd pay $300 for a DBV across the counter in NZ in the blink of an eye!
