Purple days vaporizer Posted: Thu Aug 07, 2008 9:29 pm |

Just wanna bring to your attention my new toy ... its a vaporizer I imported from the US and its called a purple days. or PD for short.
Its a direct draw vape milled from a solid block of Cherry (hardwood). It is engineerd to last for ever. Its based on the original Eterra and Aromazap vaporizers but the maker (Tom) has redesigned the heat exchanger internals to ensure this vape will last for ever. Its a fucking tank and hits beautifully. Nice lung fulls of tasty vapor and really really efficient.
This is my 5th vaporizer and is by far the best.
Visit Tom and Pam at www.purple-days.com
Note I am not a spammer. I have no affiliation with Purple Days. I paid $195NZ to get this baby to my door and only had to pony up the extra cash for a 12v DC unit. It comes with a car kit, 3 vapor tubes, a wash bottle for your tubes, a tote bag for all your accessoroes and a smaller tote bag to blow your spend product into.
I have made 2 homemade vapes, owned a vapordaddy (died after 7 months), a vaporgenie (gave it to a friend who likes pipes) and i currently have vaporite (2nd unit, first one was defective) and my current best vaporiser ever ... the Purple Days.
Its no volcano coz it wont do bags but 'canos are overrated and over priced. For under $250 I have the perfect direct draw vape next to a Silver Surfer (SSV).

Thanks for that vaporcloud
could you keep us up to speed as to how it performs as time goes on.
How safe does it feel being left on say 24/7 ... and does it hold even heat if left on??

I leave it on 24x7 Tony and its sweet. The great thing about the PD is how well it holds its temp. I can medicate whenever I want. Need some relief early in he morning, the PD is on. Afternoon blues ... hit the PD coz its on. Tom has designed it to stay on 24x7 and to stay in the vapor zone (temp wise) hit after hit.
There was a bit of a learning curve. The product has to be dry ... crumble dry ... and the bowl is tiny so loading it correctly is important. You dont pack as such rather put in a pinch and lightly tamp. 5 bowls = 0.1g so you get the idea on how samll they are. Its the ultimate one hitter vape ... and because of this your not chasing ever decreasing vapor ala-whip delivery and it never burns so the flavour is bloody awesome.
Because the bowl is so small you don't get lung splitting loads of vapor like a whip vape but the hits are smooth and clean and bigger than you think.
The Purple days is not for everyone. If your a bong hitter you might find the vapor hits not forfulling enough. But for medical use its great because the dosage is so measured. And shit, i use to hit bongs like a champ before I discovered convection vaporisers and now i don't smoke I only vape. FUCK COMBUSTION |

I get so frustrated with vaps ,
I find leaving on 24/7 and small hits regularly by far the best method.
But to date ALL the electric vaps I have tried work fine on for a few weeks then the temp control goes haywire . Even my latest high tech digital one now fluctuates wildly .Others that have had no controls have really overheated .
They sure don't like 24/7 , to date the volcanoe is the only one I have found can handle , but even that only lasted a couple of years full on.
The one limitation will be the need to have quality product , something many med users stuggle to get reliably . at times a lot of product is needed to get results.. I found the Inavap had this limitation ..But then med users should have access to quality medication..so lets hope its not an issue in the near future.
keen to hear how its stands the pace,

That wouldn't be a vaporite would it
The Purple Days is made to be left on 24x7. It has a 3 year warranty and I doubt this will be required. I have had mine for 11 days now and it hs been on all the time except for 6 hours yesterday. It hits perect everytime.
At night time I shift it out to my lounge area and I can 'sip' away all evening.

Yes vaps can be very frustrating. I prefer mine to be on 24x7 and the dose to be measured. That way there is no waste .. no coughing fits .. and sweet tasty draws each time.

Due to the bowl size the purple days does need a certain amount of time to reach the required level if your using mid grade product but because there is no warm up time and you get a nice size each draw it work quite quickly.
I hope this does last a long time because I could have bought 3/4 of a 'cano with what i have spent on vaps so far If the PD hold out like the manufacturer claims I will be enjoying it for many years |

Yep ,
Its still ok and I am very happy with it other than it does not like 24/7 anymore .
I still suggest them med users as good devises ..and they are extra good for the low grade product.
Am keen to see how well it stands up , be great to get an affordable , reliable 24/7 unit especially with a 12 volt potential .
Not sure about you but I found a Tulip I had was great if I was out and about car cig lighter , or battery pack even on boats the 12 v was a blessing .
Thanks for the info

I see you're spreading the 'Purple word', vaporcloud.
Count me as a Purple-Days fan too. I've been using mine for 4+ months now, along with my Silver Surfer. It is one great vape. Tops for efficiency, easy to use, never burns your bowl, and pretty much indestructable with normal use. Has a beautiful hardwood housing that's a pleasure to look at and handle. It really is a steal, considering the build time of almost 5 hours.
This is an especially fine vape for high quality herb and small, measured doses. The average bowl contains about .02g and I still find it surprising how much vapor that small bowl can deliver. The consistency of the herb makes a big difference of course, and a fine grind can result in quite a few hits.
All parts are lead free and RoHS compliant. The ceramic heater resistor is heavy duty and will surely outlast the average ceramic tube element. The key to the excellent temp performance is the big stainless steel heat exchanger. The downside of the exchanger is the 30 min. heatup time, but the upside is excellent heat retention. Hit it easy or hard-you get vapor. Hit it again right away-you get vapor. Hits better than the similar Vapolution too. I have retired my long used Vapo except for certain portable situations. There isn't a battery pack for the PD yet, but it will run on the Vapolution BP, although it could use a connector one size up for a tighter fit.
All in all, an excellent vape, and vaporcloud and I are not the only ones that enjoy using it in conjunction with a full sized whip unit. Also has a 3 yr. warranty, which I doubt anyone will ever have to use. |

| Quote: | | so does it seem weird to anyone else that this max guy signed up just to post that? | Doesn't seem weird to me, but that's because I know the chain of events that brought me here. Someone posted a short plug for the Purple-Days on an appropriate thread at cannabis.com, and a link to this thread. When I got here and saw the post by 'vaporcloud' I knew who it was. I know him from fuckcombustion.com, a vapor forum where we have quite a few PD fans. I've got the same user name there, so feel free to take a look. I like to promote a quality vape when I find one, and the inventor that's responsible for this one is a straight up guy. I've gotten to know him via email and the fc forum.
As for joining just to hype a vape, well, I'm a little too lazy for that, and I don't have any financial interest. I've joined quite a few cannabis forums. Some I post on a lot, some not so much. I don't know how much I'll post, but I'll be checking the threads on a regular basis. |

max is a huge spammer, don't believe his lies!
Too bad about the Vaporite problems. Don't give up, there are some really good vaporizers out there! Hint: see OP. |

My Purple-Days is working better than when I first got it. It never fails to surprise me how well this little guy works.
