Producer-turned-rapper Lil Jon arrived in Christchurch today ahead of this weekend's MTV Snow Jam. The star has been brought to New Zealand for the concert near Terrace Downs in the Canterbury foothills on Saturday.
Lil Jon, aka Jonathan Mortimer Smith is best known as a pioneer of the sub-genre of hip hop known as "crunk". Crunk, according to Wikipedia, is a genre of hip hop music. It is the fastest growing hip hop genre in recent years, and its popularity continues to swell. It is very popular in large American cities and other urban areas, and can commonly be heard at college parties.
The one-day free concert set against the backdrop of the Southern Alps will feature performances by artists like home-grown Christchurch band Opshop, The Grates, Potbelleez and Cut Off Your Hands. Coverage of the Snow Jam is going to be beamed to 27 countries and a potential audience of tens of millions on MTV. The MTV Snow Jam is free, but parking costs $10. |

Picture someone with no talent.
Then picture them doing something horrendous, so unexplainable that people just assume it takes some kind of natural gift.
Thats pretty much what it is. |
