I know someone working on their masters Psychology who was blazed right through uni lectures and exams for years. But I'd hardly claim it would be ok in high school, an earlier/different stage of brain development.
Admittedly my main concern is the damage to your life from getting a criminal conviction. The earlier you start using pot - moderately or heavily - the more you come into contact and influence of the black market. There are plenty of older types, really dishonest and into the dark side - who are not necessarily gang members - along with the more ethical reliable and nicer people involved.
Have you ever read the famous Jamaica study ? A rather thorough two year medical anthropological study ordered back in the 70s after the commission (forget its name at the moment) set up by Nixon to definitively knock pot to the dust proved very interesting reading. It used to be online, don't know whether it still is. The website I got it from was run by a Dutch organisation that has since disbanded or something; they sold all their remaining stock of reports etc and took down their website.

Perhaps your library has a copy of the report. I have a photocopy here in Chch, no doubt you're in another town Its 167 A5 pages, plus another 40 pages Appendices, Bibliography
Turning up to class stoned shouldn't be able to happen, but smoking pot at other times isn't going to change much. I couldn't turn up to a lecture stoned and expect to learn what is expected of me.. but I'm half way through my degree and smoking pot throughout it all. It'll sure turn out a whole lot better than drinking excessively all the time, and if used correctly pot can some enhance learning.
There are the odd exceptions, I know a few people who claim that it only helps them(and their grades agree ). But for the average person, turning up class stoned will have a very negative effect on your learning.
Studying concepts later while stoned, well that's a different story.
Damage from a criminal convinction or expulsion from school at an early age is what gets to me. If I was ever caught when I was young I'm sure my life would have turned out far different, and not for the better. And all this from a drug that's positives could easily outweigh its negatives.. especially when compared to the populations normal drug of choice.
Thanks for the paper, I'll check around for it. I'm fairly interested to find actual scientific facts about marijuana, rather than news report propaganda.

God there is a lot of bullshit in this thread, about spelling and how educational achievement and POT dont mix.
Give the guy a break about his spelling he said it wasn't good, he rightfully states that it doesnt matter on internet forumns. He is obviously a high achiever, I dont think Architecture require great spelling ability.
The top student at Otago University a few years ago was a prolific pot smoker. _________________ Tick the Leaf - www.alcp.org.nz

I never smoked pot while I was at school, from a young age it was drilled into me that a good education was essential in this world and that it was the only way for me to achieve the kind of life that I might want...and I tell you what im glad I listened to that advise.
I can admit that while I was at school I absolutely hated it, but I knew that I had to stay and work my ass off and so I did.
While in 6th form I was studying 7th form advanced english, 7th form chemistry, and 7th form/uni statistics and calculus along with 6th form graphics and 6th form PE (wanted to stay in shape, only reason I took the class lol)
I read someone's opinion that literacy wasn't going to be essential in Architecture, well in reality it is one of the most important things, you have to be able to communicate your ideas through the use of written words, you must also be able to converse with the client and understand their concepts/idea's/thoughts. Being able to communicate vocally is not going to cut it, nor will text language.
Although I must say that I have hardly put into effect most of what I learnt in school, at least I know what im capable of accomplishing in my life if need be _________________ Admit nothing, deny everything and make counter-accusations
