 hi i wonder if anyone knows any one in waikeria prison nz visits or has contact with them as my nephew andrew mokofisi hung himself there 13th nov 2007 and info is pretty scketchy to say the least i would like to know if anyone could shed a little light on exactly wat went on or who to contact for some straight honest answers would b much appreciated
by me and family. |

Do you know what an OIA is ? A written request for information, under the Official Information Act. Something like ;
Your address for reply first
Then the date
To Secretary for Justice, c/ Minister for Justice,
FREEPOST,
Parliament Buildings,
WELLINGTON
Request under the OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT
Dear (whoever you choose)
Please provide me with any paperwork relating to events leading up to the death of ANDREW MOKOFISI at Waikeria Prison in November 2007.
Please provide me with any paperwork relating to the death of ANDREW MOKOFISI at Waikeria Prison in November 2007.
Please provide me with any paperwork relating to any official enquiry or investigation following the death of ANDREW MOKOFISI at Waikeria Prison in November 2007.
Am I missing anything, can anyone else add anything ?
If you really want to cover bases and know any reporters or whoever, make sure you send them a copy too. Won't even cost you a stamp to send the request to the Minister. |

Only that one needs to ask for any electronic or digital records as well including internal memos .

The only other thing I thought of is whether its better to address it to secretary of CORRECTIONS instead of JUSTICE.
Also you should know they are meant to reply within 20 working days. This usually consists of 'thank you for your letter, we are working on it ...' or 'we have referred your letter to XYZ' and then its another 20 working days.
Either way, KEEP TRACK of these letters. It won't happen overnight, but it WILL happen. But you have to keep track, in case they go over 20 days and you have to remind them  Good luck. |

Andrew Mokofisi past away on the 13 november 07 in waikeria prison, they say he hung emself, but when his body wos givin back to the family no marks around his neck
bursin to the lower part of his body belt marks around his arms bursin 2mouth an 4head
