Marijuana Detox Posted: Mon Dec 03, 2007 10:57 pm |

I'm a heaver smoker 3-6 times. I use it for a number of reasons, to relive bordom, to enhance daily activities, kick in other drugs, keep my depression and anxiety at bay etc. However I stopped smoking a week ago and have had broken sleeping patterns, irrtablity and alot of sweating. This is the second time i've tried to cut down (I've tried hundreds of times but failed miserably). Of course there are upsides to not smoking, but I want to know what to do to make this easier. Does anyone who has stopped or cut down have any tips on how they did it. Also is there any cannabis alternatives that work besides spice and youre standard herbs ie blue lotus, passion flower. |

You may find sublingual B12 a few times a day , and melatonin say 3 mg at night can help some people , as well 2000 mg of omega 3 three times a day. Try and limit booze , none for a few weeks if poss.
If you want to take things further see if your Doc will do some lab tests , check out your thyroid function , seretonin and cortisol levels and maybe a few others including testosterone.
If he does, and he suggest medications tell him you want whole thyroid , and bioidenticle medications if possible.
You might also get a clue as to a few other things as well.
But do it with your Doctor
If it gets too tough , try a few low dose cookies , rather than cold turkey .
It is more likely cannabis may well be in a way medicating you , and its not so much a problem with the cannabis but it has been masking something elses .
Not trying to lecture or preach , sorry if it sounds that way , and it may not be relevant in your case..
look after yourself.

yeh man i know how your feeling i gave up after heavy use awhile ago and suffered major irratability and increased depression symptoms including loosing my temper at the slightest instigation. i just realised that this is withdrawal and just hardened up and saw it thru its an experience that convinced me that i didnt want to become that heavy smoker again.Mental medication. Fuk doctors they never helped me when i had all sorts of energy depriving physycal and mental conditions, all they did was try and prescribe me anti-depressants. I walked out.
But through it all it was worth it without a doubt you dont realize how much heavy smoking actually effects you until you stop and see how much energy returns as well as focus and motivation, having more self esteem and confidence. i gave up for three months then (because i didnt dislike smoking just realized i was abusing it) started just smoking on the odd occasion when i feel the time is right and its great. everything in moderation. good luck man. |

Yea man anti depressants don't do it for me they just mess me up even more, that's why I started smoking heavy cause you're stonned all the time and don't have the energy to worry bout anything. Im getting my energy back however and feel more compelled to do more with my life. I almost caved in tonight though, had a jug of beer and felt like it didn't matter if I smoke, all I wanted was that lovely cerebal feeling but "just" managed to avoid it (thank god). I fully agree it should be in moderation though, But I think i'll have to stay away from my cannibis using mates for a bit.
Cheers for the support

I just stopped smoking, no withdrawal symptoms, no wants, no nothing, just sleep like a baby.
Suppose everyones different, I just never seen anyone who's actually failed to quit it, if they put their mind to it?
A bit like, having a beer everyday you physiologically just pick up a beer every day perhaps?
Could it be partially that you've always got weed around and its just so easy to have a sesh? _________________ Hardcore 4 Cannabis since 2004

| Yea that's pretty lucky, I guess it just depends on the person, I suffer from depression ocd and anxiety quite badly so I think that makes a difference. I just got dependent on smoking to escape my problems and my obessiveness makes it hard to break away from that cycle. Having the herb around me does make it real easy to have a sesh tho, so I just trying to dinstance myself from it for now. |

Hempseed oil is the best source of omega oils, but its about $10 per 100ml. |

"Detox" is the wrong term for what you are trying to do.
To "detox" or detoxify is the removal of poison or toxic stuff.
Cannabis is extremely non-toxic which is one of the reasons our bodys dont work overtime to get rid of it like they do with other real poisons like alcohol.
.............. and you drank a jug of beer and it made you want some pot.
Sounds like one drug ( booze ) made you have a craving for another drug.
I get the feeling be it ciggies, coffe, booze or cannabis ................... some people will always use a drug as a bit of a crutch .

| My bad dude, I should have said flush my system out. In no way do I think the herb is posion, I believe when used in the right ways it's very benifical spiritually mentally and physically. I don't think i'll be drinking for awhile if it's going to make me crave. |
