Before running any executable file downloaded from an unknown source I would recommened that you scan it for virus and backdoors, trojans etc as well as having a properly configured firewall such as zone alarm or black ice. It may be harmless but you can never be 100% sure.

Well thanks for the positive support for Kiwi programming mr. Why not advise going to the site and seeing if the Developer has virus scanned all his uploads before you cause more panic about viruses than there already is...Yes i do scan, and stand by all my products.

I didn't mean to appear unsupportive or to cause panic about virus's, I was merely offering some advice to other norml members as there are no doubt some newbies out there don't realise the risks of downloading software from unknown sources. Considering your a developer, you should know how easy it is to hide a virus within an exe file. It was your first post in the norml forums, you were linking to an exe file, and my post was merely a caution to others, I didn't say anything negative specifically about your software, and I would post the same caution no matter what country you lived in, and no matter what the software may have been.

Had there been a virus in your software, it would be of little use to give them such advice after they caught a virus, so please don't take it personally.

By following some basic precautions, you can effectively eliminate the risks, but for some reason people either don't know about the risks, or they're just to lazy. And to add some further advice, regardless of whether the developer states on the site that all files have been scanned, still scan it for virus. Don't believe everything you read, thus the reason I would not give the advice "go to the site and seeing if the Developer has virus scanned all his uploads".

Like I said, it wasn't personal, and I hope you can see the angle I am coming from. I do wish you good luck with your software and am glad to see you spending your time advancing your development skills, being involved in the software industry myself, I know NZ needs all the switched on developers it can get it's hands on, especially considering a lot of them have given up on NZ for greener pastures abroad.

I think it's great that you have taken the time to write a game about one of the most useful plants on the planet. I'll download it later on and give it a try. What's it written in? C# or VB?

If so, dont bother its fun for a while but once youre past the first harvest you'll soon grow old from not being able to smoke the harvested bud.

The real thing is a LOT more exciting.
