National MP John Key has contacted me to say he doesn’t support changes to cannabis laws.
John Key is Number 10 on the National List. However, he won the Helensville electorate in 2002 by only 1,705 votes. Helensville has just under 4,000 voters, so Key's grip could be precarious if we did a little work promoting the alternatives to ticking National for the Helensville Electorate.
Previous National MP (and kind of cannabis law reform supporter), Brian Neeson was not reselected for National, and stood as an Independent in 2002.
