 | NORML News: Cannabis Poisoned by Police Sold to Consumers |
new zeaLAND news HEALTH WARNING
For the third year in a row, NORML is warning cannabis consumers to beware of police-poisoned marijuana that has found its way onto the market reports NORML News Winter 2004.
"NORML has received reports of poisoned cannabis being bought by high school students in the Coromandel", said spokesperson Chris Fowlie. "Many people seem unaware of the existence of the spraying programme. Some strains of cannabis have a naturally occurring purple or blue colouring, and frosts can also tint cannabis blue, meaning it can be difficult to detect the poison residue."
The blue-dyed herbicide used by police is based on Round Up (glyphosate) and leaves a copper-blue residue on buds and inside stems. Consumers who have inadvertently smoked cannabis poisoned by the police have complained to NORML of headaches, nausea and severe coughing fits, sometimes involving coughing up blood. The police do not seem to care that their actions could result in the deliberate poisoning of a substantial number of people.
